EVA VS PUR White paper- A comparison

Most paper stocks bind well with EVA glue. However, for a stronger bond — especially with edge-to-edge toner/print coverage or heavy coated stocks — PUR is the superior choice. The Fastbind Handy and Ultra perfect binders give you the flexibility to switch between EVA and PUR on a job-by-job basis, ensuring you always have the right adhesive for the task.
Why Choose PUR?
PUR perfect binder glue is the strongest, most versatile hot melt adhesive available for book binding. Key advantages include:
- Strongest bond available for book binding
- Ideal for thick and coated paper stocks
- Excellent for edge-to-edge toner coverage
- Books lay more open and flat compared to EVA bindings
Important Considerations
- The glue tank must be cleaned after every use/day
- PUR is a reactive glue that requires 4, 8, or 12 hours to fully cure
- Books must rest on their spine while the glue dries
- PUR fumes must be filtered or extracted from the workspace
Warning
PUR glue is only compatible with perfect binding machines specifically designed for PUR. Do not use PUR glue in any machine not rated for it — doing so will permanently damage the binder.
As with any new paper stock, we recommend testing for durability and binding strength before committing to a full run. That said, PUR glue will bind virtually all paper stocks that EVA cannot.
